Sorry to say I don't think your going to find a driver for Mac OS X. According to Canon's site, this printer uses their own proprietary language CAPT/ColourCAPT. I know of no open source driver that will support this.

Canon does provide drivers for Linux and Windows but not Mac OS X.

What do you mean by Canon LBP 2900 for mac OS X 10.5.1??

Is there a driver that allows this to work with OS X??

I've read the Canon uses it's own software but surely there should be a fix for this.

I have downloaded the newer version of the CAPT driver that is now available at www.canon.com. You will need to go to the support section and download the right driver.

Others have stated that they have been able to use the printer to print directly to the printer via USB. I however want to be able to print over a SOHO network.

There is a discussion board on www.apple.com regarding the installation of the print for direct printing. Just dig around and you will find it.

- Find in Library/Printers/Canon the folder CAPT and rename it in CAPT_OLD (as you prefer).

- Download this folder [boolet.free.fr] .

- Copy the new folder into Library/Printers/Canon.

- Restart your mac.

- Download and install the last version of Canon Capt driver from here [software.canon-europe.com] .

- Restart your mac again.

- The printer shoud work.

This tip seems to work on my iBook G4 12" (Os 10.4.11 Tiger).
Good Luck ;-)

Hi, after trying for weeks, and thanks for all the info, i finally got the printer to work with my mac via USB, however, I actually need to print through network, the printer is attached to a pc with windows xp with fixed IP.

I manage to add printer, but did not manage to locate the driver though it has been installed for the local USB one.

Please help....

Does anyone know where else I can download the file from?

Thanks!

I just got this to work on my MacBook with OS X 10.5.7. I found a lot of different instructions trying to help me get the LBP 2900 to work. I undid everything from all the other suggestions and followed Neco step by step and it now works like a charm!

Thanks!

I tried many methods available on the net, but failed to print on our new Canon LBP2900. But your method worked like a charm.

Thanks again
