lOOKING FOR A driver for Canon Pixma MP198. Have been unable to make this work

can you give me a driver for mp198 for my printer your driver that had given was not usable.

Got the drivers from Canon India Site.

scangearmp-common_1.20-1_i386.deb

scangearmp-mp190series_1.20-1_i386.deb

Works on my Debian etch 4.0 with GIMP --> File --> Acquire --> ScanGear MP..

Got the scanner configured 3 hours back. Yet to check on printer guess it would work.

Also installed packages -

cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb

cnijfilter-mp190series_3.00-1_i386.deb

Hope they work for the printers as good as the scanner..

i got a problem with our printer canon model MP198. its indicate waste in ink absorber full. I want to reset the ink..but i dont know how..could u please give some tips or techniques or software will do..thanx.. you can send email: evsamaghanoy@yahoo.com

but a message will pop up saying "cannot communicate with scanner......scanner driver will be closed."
i dont know what to do!

try this: I'm not sure but still worth giving a try. Please email me if this works:

Reset Waste Ink
1) Enter SERVICE MODE.
By pressing Menu, Copy, Scan, Copy, Copy
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR].
5) Select 0. [INK COUNT].
6) Press the [Set] key.
7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.

If it doesnt work, try this.

test2:

1. unplug printer power. Lift open printer cover.
2. with cable unplugged, push and hold on button.
3. while pushing on button, plug in power cable.
4. Push cover sensor with a ballpen.
4. While holding ballpen at the cover sensor, release finger from the on button.
5. release ballpen from the cover sensor.
6. Close the printer cover, then turn on the printer.

This should work fine. Remember you may have to repeat this procedure each time you turn off your printer.

is this printer model compatible with Windows 7?
Also is this a good choice as the most economical printer/scanner/copier all in one given the HSBC promotion recently? Will this model get obsolete soon?

check this out this is the ressetter for mp198 and newer model of canon this works 100 percent just got this on december 2009 you need to be in service mode to get this working
