So I just got the canon pixma mp210. I would love the printer even more if I could get the driver working :) The add a printer function seems to auto detect it correctly as a canon mp210, it recommends the bjc600 driver. The printer seems to almost work, it will feed the paper through it just neglects to put ink on the paper... Has anyone used the MP210? I've been searching linux/ubuntu forums and I cant find anyone with the mp210!

Confirmed not working under Kubuntu Feisty Fawn and Gutsy Gibbon. I get the same behavior. Spits out a blank sheet of paper,

I put the driver of the MP150 and it works !

And what about the scaner on PIXMA MP210? ... I cant find any driver for it

Mandriva 2007 does not support the mp150. Next option? Incidentally, Canon has no linux drivers for this printer. I found my Pixma iP1500 on their Europe site when I bought it last year.

Ive just got one of these for xmas. am i correct in thinking i need to go and buy a USB cable to connect it to my pc before i can use it?

The only port seems to be on the front, quite a poor place for a deskptop printer.

there is also a usb connector at the back. If you turn the printer around to see the back then it's left 90° around.

I see from the documentation that the mp210 uses 37 & 38 cartridges (low capacity) as well as 40 & 41 cartridges (high capacity). In the mp150 the 40 & 41 are the low capacity option & a lot more expensive per page than 50 & 51 cartridges which are high capacity.

However there is no mention of the 50 & 51 cartridges in the mp210 documentation and I want to know will they work?

This printer is the worst printer ever. It is next to impossible to feed the paper right. you have to stick the paper in one by one, and that doesnt even work right. Most of the time the paper will get jammed when feeding it, and then i waste about 15 minutes trying to get it right. I do not recommend this printer to anyone who needs to print things.

sorry my html skill is not so great, but that link should at least show you what the cable ends should look like. The cable you want is a regular USB (or 2.0) connector on one end and a squarish USB connector on the other (has 2 corners rounded). Hope this helps

Canon Pixma MP150/MP160

1) With the printer powered off but connected to a
power source, press the Power button while pressing
and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power is lit, press the Stop/Reset button
two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop /
Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will
move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the on/off lights in green, press the
Stop/Reset button 4 times, the specified number of

the ink detector button is disabled..how do I reset it??? Anyone pleeease

my dad's HP scanner/printer died yesterday. i took him out to buy the Canon MP210.

i have the scanner working. if i don't get the printer working i might see my name in the obituaries.

i'm using Ubuntu 8.04. i've read and tried many fixes including the Australian drivers, the driver for the mp610...

i see in this thread that someone has used the mp160 driver with success. i will try that next. i hope that Canon fixes this. i believe their latest drivers were released in late February. i really need them to finish the job or i'm going to get a golf driver hit over my head.

well, well, well ... They (people from canon) think that we are very stupid ... I have canon mp210, and , one mount after I refill cartridge , printer show E5 error ... I try everything, but , just do nothing .
Thing is very simple ... people from canon put chip in cartridge, and depend of time or number of printings, chip just send to other electronic on printer board that "cartridge is bad", or incompatible" - error E 5 (blinking). Why ? because they wanna get a money from people for new cartridges. mp210 could be perfect printer, and nobody need to buy new one or spent a money for new cartridges, but they (people from canon company) prevent it with "smart"chip in CL-38 ... That is not ok.
YOUR CARTRIDGE IS OK, THEY ARE NOT !!!

Did you receive any reply to your q regarding the use of PG50 CL51 in MP210?

Canon's lab technician said it is compatible but in practice it is not. The printer send a message that it is not recognized and reject the print request.
